Rangkul, China-Tajik border, 2015 Tajikistan was the country we were most scared of. Extremely rugged. Very remote. The roads went right by the Taliban border. 100s of things that could go bad. And they did. Our car broke down. But then we met amazing people who helped us even though we couldn't speak the same language. Gave us a roof for 3 nights. Fed us food. Made us feel right at home.
