a star filled sky

This is the Rosette Nebula, also known as NGC 2244. To create this image, I captured 6 hours worth of exposure time over three separate nights. NGC 2244 is approximately 5.200 light years away from Earth and spans 130 light years across. It lies in the constellation Monoceros just west of Orion. To see it, find Betelgeuse, an orange star above Orion's belt and draw a line due left. Then find Sirius our night sky's brighest star SW of the belt, and draw a line upwards, and find Rosette where they intersect.
