A spectacular, awe-inspiring night sight unique to New Zealand - the glow worm. These small creatures catch their prey in their larval stage by excreting a sticky silk thread and displaying a glowing abdomen fueled by a chemical reaction. They often exist in huge numbers in moist places such as caves and overhanging banks, creating a breathtaking display of small, turquoise lights in the darkness.
