Every summer in the Sonoran desert, swarms of flying ants–who fly only when they mate–gather to have sex in the sky. When done, they fall to earth. The males, their wings now useless, crawl off to die. The females find a new place to begin a nest and start the cycle anew. It is an awesome spectacle to watch and messy to clean up if they choose your patio at their gathering spot.
