In the south of Portugal, Alentejo is a land of endless plains and few people. Few people that learned the hard way how to get the most of each peace of meat, each portion of flour, each herb from nature. Casa do Alentejo is installed in a palace built by an aristocratic family in the XVII century. It changed hands many times through the years, and was the subject of continuous remodeling. In the XX century, it used to be a casino, and the mirror room is a legacy of that era. The palace reminds us of the influence of the Arabic presence in the Iberian Peninsula.
