Through Unsplash's lifetime, we’ve seen firsthand how powerful an image can be in helping spread messages and break boundaries. The Unsplash community makes this impact on a global scale every day through the images they submit.
We hope to take it a step further this year. Since giving back has always been at the core of the Unsplash community, we have created a way to further use Unsplash… for Good.
Unsplash for Good
Unsplash is the largest platform for freely sharing photos in the world. With more than 100 million downloads and 22 billion views every month, it’s larger than the rest of the industry combined. So, let’s take advantage of such a wild stat, and highlight impactful visuals that can truly make a difference in the world.
Unsplash for Good supports charities and organizations by building awareness on global issues through visual content. Focusing on causes such as environmental concerns and social injustices let’s magnify our global impact by growing our library of images that ignite change.
Unsplash + UNEP
Our first Unsplash for Good initiative is an exciting partnership with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). This year marks the UN’s 50th birthday, and they’ve asked the Unsplash community to take part in celebrating this milestone and the planet.
On March 3rd, as part of their Environment Assembly and UNEP@50 event, we are launching an Act For Nature Topic. Let’s flood the Unsplash library with the landscapes you still want to be around 50 years from now. They are looking for diverse landscapes that span the globe, in hopes of selecting the top 15 images that reflect the beauty of our planet. These winning images will be featured in an online gallery on the UNEP website.

Through Unsplash for Good, expect multiple partnerships to bring awareness to an array of different causes such as:

- Universal access to quality education and medical care

In addition to charities, we will partner with companies whose missions align with that of Unsplash for Good, and who want to support a cause through charitable donations or through the gifting of equipment, so an Unsplash community member can capture these impactful, under-represented images.
With the massive impact we've seen for our advertising partners like Microsoft, Google, and Square, we will also be offering up to 10% of all ad placements to select charities and organizations to help amplify their missions.
