African elephants belong to the genus Loxodonta and consist of two extant species: the African bush elephant and the smaller African forest elephant. These majestic creatures are social herbivores characterized by their grey skin. However, they vary in the size and coloration of their tusks, as well as in the shape and size of their ears and skulls.
