There is only one highway on Mitkof Island, which is one-third of the way up the Alaskan panhandle. Logically enough, it’s called Mitkof Highway. If you leave Petersburg, the only town on the island, heading south on Mitkof Highway you’ll eventually come its end. If you’re looking for a sign that you’ve reached the end of the road, this is it.
