Two Blue Dasher dragonflies in the "obelisk posture" sitting atop night-blooming water lily buds. Damselflies and dragonflies sometimes raise their abdomens in this way, pointing tails to the sun, to minimize the surface area exposed to solar radiation. The water lily, called "Woods White Knight", typically opens at dusk and closes at mid-morning the next day.
