This is a photo of my sisters. We are from the Duruma Tribe which in part of the Mijikenda community formed by 9 tribes. The nine tribes are Duruma, Giriama, Chonyi, Digo, Kambe, Kauma, Ribe, Jibana, and Rabai and we all live in the Kenyan coast. The print the ladies are wearing is called a kishutu. It is the first-ever leso that was won by the lady Mekatilili wa Menza who liberated the Mijikenda community from it's colonial ties. You can read more about our culture at www.worldtravellove.org
