This photo was taken in the deep darkness of Fiordland National Park in New Zealand. A designed dark sky reserve, there was literally no light around except for the glow from our cabin. We had never seen such fiery stars or such a bright night sky - it was as if a million fireflies had taken to the skies. We saw more shooting stars than we had in a lifetime. It was also the first time we’d seen the Magellanic Clouds. That night is burned forever in my memory.
