I took this photo during my first visit to Great Sand Dunes National Park. This photo does a good job illustrating the massive scale of the place, which is stark and beautiful. The photo has taken on a philosophical meaning for me - it representing setting out on a difficult journey - on foot, through a challenging environment - and what can be gained by such a journey.
