This photo was taken on a day trip to Asheville, NC. We decided to hit the blue ridge parkway to get a glimpse of the mountain range, and spontaneously decided to go to the summit of Mt. Mitchell. Standing at 6,683 feet, Mt. Mitchell is the tallest peak east of the Mississippi. The winds at the summit were overpowering, but the views were worth the trek.
