Taken during sunrise from the Blue Ridge Parkway, America’s longest linear park (469 miles), and it’s most visited National Park. We originally intended to catch the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Mitchell, but because the summit of the mountain was closed until an hour after sunrise, we were forced to improvise. Driving along the parkway while the sun was rising, we eventually found a view that did the scene justice. Clouds were rolling off of mountain peaks and down into valleys, and the sun began peeking over the ridge line. Rays of warm light filled the sky as we sat on the hood of my car.
