A Broken Heart - This was one of those surreal moments for me. I had watched this male Killdeer for about twenty minutes or more doing everything he could to woo a beautiful female. At times she seemed to take interest, but then suddenly she just up and flew away. The little guy let out a very mournful cry and then ruffled his feathers and stood here in this same spot looking around for several minutes before returning to his feeding.
