During a trip to the Andes in Chile I got to hike El Lascar Volcano with a group of friends. Lascar is the most active volcano in that part of the Andes. The hike up the flank of the volcano was tough going as none of us had ever been at such high altitude. The crater rim, from where I took this stunning panoramic shot, was at 5’500 m (18’000 feet) elevation. I cannot quite describe the feeling I had looking out over the neighbouring volcanos. It most definitely felt like we were on top of the world.
