With ocean temperatures rising, food productivity along the California coast has declined. Humpback Whales have had to forage much closer to shorelines (AND the Golden Gate Bridge!) due to krill and other prey items being pushed towards the coastline as a result of climate change and crashing food populations such as herring and anchovies.
