This bear’s expression caught my eye at the Houston Zoo. He looked lonely, pensive, and somehow wise all at the same time. I knew from the moment I took it that I would convert it to black and white because of the distracting background. I also wanted to draw attention to the bear’s expression specifically. I support the Houston Zoo (and all zoos), and I understand their role in conservation and animal rights. However, sometimes I can’t help but feel sorry for certain animals who look like they would do anything to escape their confinement.
