Chandratal is a fresh water lake , located at around 14100 sq feet , takes the shape of a moon and is the main source of the River Chandra or Chenab. There is a interesting and a mysterious story i came to know about this place .According to the locals this place is blessed and visited by fairies at night. Many female travelers have lost a few things on their way back from Chandratal which is believed to be stolen by the fairies .I was asked to be extra careful of my personal belongings ,Neither did I find any fairy,nor did any of my things got lost,however this place surely stole my heart.
