Liège-Guillemins Railway Station, designed by acclaimed Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened in 2009, stands as one of Europe’s most breathtaking examples of contemporary architecture. Replacing a 19th-century structure, its monumental vaulted roof—constructed from 39,000 tonnes of steel and expansive glass panels—spans 200 metres without internal supports, soaring up to 35 metres high. The fluid, wave-like form evokes movement and light, bathing the five platforms and nine tracks in natural illumination.
