We backpacked into the valley below Grays and Torreys Peaks for a night beneath the stars before sending both peaks the next day. Not a cloud was in the sky at our 12,000 ft. base camp. However, the second the mountains hid the sun, the temperature dropped dramatically and it was time to hunker down.
