Worker in constructions, in Amsterdam city - a picture of reconstruction activities in the old brick basements, built 1882-3. It's under the Central Station building in the old town center. In 2012 this station-building got completely new concrete piling and a new basement-floor as its foundation. The old basement was still resting on wooden and half-rotten piles in the soggy grounds of the city. That was not reliable any longer.
