The moment before starting

All quiet in the room, waiting to begin. Guitar resting patiently on its stand. Congas still. Keyboard glowing softly in the gloom. And me. Breathing, noticing, savouring the silence. I wanted to capture that moment of fertile void before the process starts, sounds slowly turning to music and ideas tumbling around like unruly children at a party… until order and structure steadily draw out music from the chaos. Cacophony to symphony.
