The African leopard, known scientifically as the nominate subspecies of the leopard, inhabits numerous countries across Africa. Its presence is widespread throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa, although habitat conversion has led to fragmentation of its historical range. Additionally, leopards have been documented in North Africa.
