This is a stretch of Iceland’s Route 1 national highway which offers some of the world’s most amazing scenery as it bends and winds it way around the glacial tongues that come off Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier. Despite the awe that Vatnajokull inspires, it’s a system in decline, as global warming effects all but a few of the world’s glaciers.
