The Lyngvig Lighthouse, located on Denmark’s north west coast, was built in 1906 as part of an initiative to reduce the number of shipwrecks along this shore, also known as the Iron Coast, named so as it broke any ship that would come close enough. Tens of lighthouses were built so close together that ships always had at least one lighthouse in sight in order to safely navigate these waters.
