While on my journey through the Clive Greenbelt park in Iowa one autumn day, I happened on this spider’s web on the framework of an arching truss bridge across Walnut Creek. I happened to think of the children’s story Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White, in which a little pig’s life is saved by an enterprising spider who spins out such words as “Some Pig”, “Terrific” and many others. I can’t think of any words in these webs as I looked at this photo, but I’m sure they are there.
