This is my favorite photo that Unsplash deemed unsearchable. It’s a seldom-visited location and strange bit of geology. This is remote Lake Abert in southern Oregon. It’s what remains of a massive lake that formed at the end of the ice age. There are no fish or recreational activities because of the saline/alkali content. The rocks along the shore are covered in this white crystallized mineral crust and I saw this lone rock sticking out near the shore as rain poured in the distance.
