I call this river that flows behind my house in Khao Lak, Thailand, my "Siddhartha" river, named after the book written by Hermann Hesse. Siddhartha was the birth-name of Gautama the Buddha. The central character in Hesse's book ultimately finds profound peace with a river that communicates silence to him.
