I was shooting with my brother at the Toronto Zoo. Was never really a fan of Gorillas until I was face to face with one. Not swinging through vines in some dense jungle; behind a metal fence. Captivity. Almost human in nature, the undeniable similarities in fingernails, expression, feel. I could see myself exactly how I saw her should that be me. I waited for the exact moment her eyes gazed into freedom and grasped the fence. I made sure to capture the freedom on the other side of the fence. Black & White really brought out the detail in her fur and captured her beauty.
