If visiting Wells you simply must see Vicar's Close, which is the oldest residential street (mid 14th century) with original buildings surviving intact in Europe (well technically we are still in Europe for now!) The magnificent gateway and tall chimneys and Cathedral views really add to the sense of historic awe.
