Distribution: Established in Southern and Central Africa. Description: Have a true tree form of a single trunk and a wide-spreading crown. Because of its local abundance, beautiful shape and the deep red colouring of young leaves, it is best known of its genus. It is very attractive, large and deciduous, which can measure in excess of 15 meters. Leaves: Old leaves are feathery and greyish green Flowers: Somewhat inconspicuous, they are greenish white, sweetly scented and borne in short axillary or terminal spikes (September to December). Fruits: Panga-shaped pods, which are hard, woody.
