This photo was taken during a backpacking trip on the Lost Coast Trail in Northern California (Mendocino) in early July. We came to Big Flat on our second day of hiking and after miles of hiking on the rugged coast in the sand and avoiding rolled ankles on rocks, the trail and solid ground were very welcome.
