The South Coast of Sri Lanka has been guarded by Galle Fort for more than 500 years. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is heaven for photographers and tourists alike. After the destruction of the Galle International Cricket Ground in the 2004 Tsunami, it was rebuilt with funds from cricket bowling spin legend Shane Warne. Today the ramparts are frequented by young people playing social cricket using timber palings and tennis balls, morning and evening joggers and group exercise classes. The romantics flock to the west facing ramparts to view sunsets daily.
