‘I knew it. I knew right then I messed up. My heart sank as I turned to face the growing noise. There it was, a wall of water speeding straight toward me. I had nowhere to go — having unwittingly backed up against a shear rock face holding a borrowed DSLR in one hand and thousands in gear on my back. Out of options, I spotted my only hope: a short, round boulder that lay alone ahead of me. “This is a terrible idea” I say to myself while clambering on top.
