The tiles show the names of people arrested and sent to the Auschwitz extermination camp during WW II. These tiles are cemented into the sidewalk before the house from which they were abducted. Each tile states the name of the person, when arrested and when and whereto deported. Their only crime was having the "wrong" ancestors. Of the 8 names, only one (the woman top right) survived the camps. These tiles are also known as "tripstones".
