The Tower "Astura", historical building is in the middle of the sea, linked to the land by a long and narrow bridge over arches, it is a kind of small brick castle, embattled. On the remains of a Roman villa partly built on an artificial island (and equipped with a large fish pond that is still visible) the FRANGIPANE FAMILIES had built around 1200 a tower with a defense fence against the Saracens who roamed the area. This fortress was connected to the shore by a brick bridge.
