Orange and red fall colors fill the valley and ridgeline beyond, while more distant mountains are in the shadows of the afternoon clouds. A foggy "Smokey Mountain" haze pours into the valley from the West. Looking Glass Rock is visible, along with the Pisgah Forest "Pink Beds" near the "Cradle of Forestry in America" and the Dupont State Forest near Brevard, NC and Hendersonville, NC
