A bumblebee has pierced the side of a fuchsia flower to get a shortcut to the nectar. This type of flower would normally be pollinated by birds such as hummingbirds, but the bumblebee has used its piercing mouth parts to to gain access to the nectar. The photo was taken in Tasmania where bumblebees have been introduced.
