Even in the wettest of our coastal systems, fire is an important regenerative element. Here we are situated in a mature, old-growth Coastal Redwood system. Fire is a part of the ecological process that is unwieldy within burgeoning suburban land use. We need to remember this past, understand its destructive and regenerative nature all at once.
