Herring Gull in flight. A4 canvas oil painting. This could be any seaside or coastal scene in the world. Gulls are common, fondly fed on holidays in the sun. Sometimes seen as pests, to me they are welcoming. Part and parcel of all my fondest memories with Grandparents on picnic outings, travelling excitedly on steam trains. Just before diesel trains took over our railways. How time slips over us unnoticed. Transporting us, often reluctantly from childhood innocence to our technological nightmare and ecological devastation. Even song birds and sparrows don’t sing as loudly as before.
