a very large star in the middle of the sky

The Rosette Nebula located in the constellation of Monoceres. Of special note here is the dust band that runs from roughly the six o' clock to 3 'o clock position which is said to resemble a parade of animals, most notably the donkey, leopard, and Labrador Retriever among others.
