The pygmy rattlesnake (Sistrurus miliarius) is the smallest rattlesnake in the world. Adults will generally reach their maximum length of around 16 - 24 inches (40 - 60 centimeters). Unfortunately, their habitats get disrupted by roadways and many of them are killed while crossing roads. Others are killed simply through persecution. The pygmy rattlesnake is venomous; so admire them from a respectful distance.
