The Sokcho Train Station was built during the Japanese occupation in 1941. Before it was dismantled in 1978, it changed a lot with the town around it. It served as a crematory for a time during the Korean War. The American military used it as a kitchen and dance hall. It has also been used as a school and a brick factory. Now it sits in the Sokcho museum as a reminder of local history.
