Hylobates pileatus The babies of the cap gibbons are cream-coloured at first. At the age of one year they change their coat colour to silvery and yellow-brown parts. The adult females stay with this juvenile colouration. Males, however, change their coat colour during puberty at the age of six to eight years to an almost completely black coat colour. Gibbon families are very peaceful among themselves. There are hardly any quarrels. For example, two gibbons eat from the same fruit without any problems. Infants never crawl onto their mother's back.
