A large rock in the middle of a desert

There is some crazy geology and chemistry going on at the Alvord Desert Hot Springs in Southeastern Oregon. This is a mix of dissolved minerals and volcanic lava rock, water from hot springs, and a desert playa. Color and random shapes/patterns ensued.
