Gyeongbokgung Palace is the largest and most grandiose of the five palaces, built in 1395. Its main throne hall is the Geunjeongjeon, which was used for important royal ceremonies and meetings with foreign envoys. The hall features a spacious, open courtyard and a raised platform with a throne for the king.
