Its port is the only Natural Protected Harbour on the Coromandel Coast, and the city is the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy. The City is well Protected by Simhachal Hills on the North, Eastern Ghats on the West, Dolphin Nose & Yarada Hills on the South, Bay of Bengal Under Water Sea Mountains in the East.
