Golden Bauhinia Square outside the Convention and Exhibition Center, Wanchai. Flag raising ceremonies are held here on every 1 July to celebrate the return of HK to China's rule on 1 July 1997, and to celebrate the National Day of China on 1 October. The 6m. tall statue of a bauhinia flower is an iconic symbol of HK as bauhinia is the city flower that represents HK since the British colonial rule period before 1997.
