The waterbuck, a sizable antelope prevalent across sub-Saharan Africa, belongs to the Kobus genus within the Bovidae family. Initially documented by the Irish naturalist William Ogilby in 1833, this majestic creature encompasses 13 distinct subspecies, categorized into two varieties: the widespread ellipsiprymnus waterbuck and the defassa waterbuck.
